Chula (choo-la) is a female black bear with russet-brown fur.[1]

In The Original Series arc[]
Great Bear Lake[]
- Chula and Ossi are seen by Lusa and Miki as they go to eat in an ant hill. Chula shows Lusa all sorts of bugs and things to eat.
- When the polar bears enter the forest, Chula and Ossi agree to go with Lusa to save Miki, but their mother won't allow it.
The Longest Day[]
- Ossi arrives at the gathering early and tells Lusa that his sister is arriving with a large group of black bears. Lusa later has a nightmare about bears in trouble and recognizes Chula's voice. Ossi takes Lusa along the route Chula's group is taking, where they find the bears injured by a firebeast accident and Chula's hind leg trapped under a log. Lusa and Ossi use a branch to lever the log off, and Ossi carries her back to camp as her paw is sprained. Lusa looks after Chula and the other injured bears, but feels jealous when Miki pays more attention to Chula than her. During the fire, Chula makes it to safety along with the others. Years later, Lusa asks Ossi and his new friend Yakni about Chula and her injured hind paw, but Yakni replies she doesn't have that. Lusa is glad that the sprain healed.
